BREAKING: Wole Soyinka's Daughter, Iyetade Soyinka Dies At 48

Iyetade Soyinka, a daughter of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, has died. Ms. Soyinka, who was born June 6, 1965, died at the University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital where she was being treated for an undisclosed ailment.

The death was disclosed in a statement signed by Jahman Anikulapo, an aide to Mr. Soyinka, one of the world’s foremost dramatists and winner of the 1986 Nobel Prize in literature. The statement noted that the late Iyetade Soyinka was a student at the Staff School and Queens School, Ibadan before she studied Medicine at the University of Ibadan.

Mr. Anikulapo’s statement described the deceased as “affable, intelligent and sometimes capricious,” adding that she “struggled with her health in recent years.” Despite her health woes, the late Iyetade Soyinka “greeted every day with a smile and doted on her two children.”

2014: FG To Maintain Presidential Jets With N1.52Bn - Punch

The Federal Government has budgeted N1.52b for the maintenance of the 10 aircraft currently in the Presidential Air Fleet in 2014.

The maintenance cost is slightly higher than the N1.5bn proposed as the initial deposit for the purchase of additional aircraft that will bring the number of aircraft in the fleet to 11.

This is apart from the N747m earmarked for the purchase of aviation fuel for the aircraft already in the fleet.

[Photo] Four Friends Die At Ikotun On Their Way Back From A Night Club

Barely one week to Christmas, four friends returning home after enjoying themselves at a night club in Ikeja died in a car accident which happened in the early hours of Tuesday at Ikotun area of Lagos State, western Nigeria. Read the rest of the story after the break



The accident happened at 2 a.m. at Arida Bus Stop along Idimu-Ikotun Road, Ikotun, after their driver hit an electricity pole. It was gathered out of the five occupants in the car comprising two men and three women, four died while the only woman survivor is in a critical condition at an unidentified hospital.

Police sources said the identities of the victims were not yet known. The registration number of the affected Toyota Tercel car was given as BT 597LND. Their bodies have been deposited at the Igando General Hospital in Alimosho Local Government Area.

Wicked Bus Driver Kidnaps Big Girl, Rapes Her For Straight 15 Hours

A big babe in Enugu State who took a public bus to get to her destination is now living in regrets as she was, in the most inhuman form, rapéd by a popular commercial bus driver in the city of Enugu. He has been charged with rapé after she was rescued from him but the case has been adjourned till February 26, 2014.
The rapist, Emeka Ugwudiobi was said to have to violently had intercourse with her at gunpoint for 15 hours.
According to the prosecution counsel, Mr Francis Ajagu, the driver plies the New Market-Gariki route and the victim was one of his passengers on the fateful day.


“On getting to Mayor Market, he observed that it was only the victim that was left inside the bus...
“He drove the bus to an uncompleted building beside the Mayor Market and started molesting the victim,” Ajagu told the court. He said the victim was molested from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. without break and that the accused never heeded the pleas of the victim to have pity on her or to allow her rest.
Ajagu said it was a passerby, one Mr Chidubem Ezeorah, who ran into the scene and reported the case to the police.

Bus Driver Killed By Passenger Over N10 In Benin City , Edo State

On Monday December 16th, 2013, a wicked bus passenger was arrested by Edo State police officials for allegedly killing an innocent bus driver over the weekend.

The young commercial bus driver identified as Eze was believed to be in his late 20′s while the woman that killed him is 38-year-old.

Last Saturday, Eze died when his bus passenger strangled him while holding on to his manhood.

It was reported that the young man identified as Eze was driving through Ohovbe Road, Off Benin Agbor Road, Ikpoba Hill in the early hours of Saturday. He decided to carry the said woman to the junction of Ohovbe Road for N40 and the woman entered on agreement but on getting to the junction,  the driver asked for his money and the woman paid N30 instead of N40. When the driver complained that the money is incomplete, the woman then told him that she cannot pay N40. Out of frustration and anger the driver cursed the woman and started calling her names like ashawo, prostitute etc.
