TUCSON, Arizona -
An Arizona Wildcats cheerleader released a series of tweets this
morning claiming she overheard Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez tell
several of his players that the Wildcats would “rip Boise State’s nuts
off in the Fiesta Bowl.” Apparently Rodriguez is upset they have to face
a well-known Mountain West team who was invited to the Fiesta Bowl this
year as the highest-ranking Non-Power 5 Team.
“The only reason the Broncos got in the game is because of football
affirmative action. They don’t really deserve it,” Rodriguez was
overheard telling several players. “They don’t belong in the same breath
as Arizona and I don’t want you boys to stress about this one. Relax,
have fun, enjoy the bowl experience.
And know, if they were in the
PAC-12 they would have won zero games this year… We will rip Boise
State’s nuts off in the Fiesta Bowl.”
In the world of social media, coaches and players should know by
now to watch what they say as trash talk often goes
viral. Rodriguez’s comments will likely give the Boise State Broncos
plenty of bulletin board material in case they weren’t already motivated
enough to beat Arizona.
